“About Me”... Communication Tool for Summer Camps

Updated: Jun 26, 2019

Summer is here, and I am excited for long days at the beach, swimming with friends and BBQ's. However, I am also a bit worried about how to fill my son’s free time… and about too much iPad. For the past two months, I have researched summer camps for neurotypical and special needs kids. After much investigation, we decided on several camps; Camp James, Friendship Circle, special needs gymnastics, bike camp and arts & crafts. Throughout these decisions and sign up processes, I developed some anxiety as to how my son is going to advocate for himself and to let the camp counselors know what he wants and needs. So, I decided to go to some of the “ausome moms” in the autism community, and from there came up with a bio or resume for my son. All credit for this idea goes to Krissy from ‘Life with Greyson + Parker’ (Facebook).  I hope this will help some of the other special needs parents out there… as it did me.
